Thank you to J.S. (another soldier from Mark's unit) for the picture. This is the area where Mark is working, Kandahar City. I am pretty sure Mark said this picture was taken from a helicopter- though I"m not positive. I found the photo quite interesting. It wasn't exactly what I pictured. I have a better understanding to as why Mark wanted me to point the webcam outside when he said he misses seeing grass- not to mention the fall colors!
Love,
Angie
Operation Enduring Freedom
On a warm night in June, at 1AM I dropped Mark off at Fort Lewis. That was our final good bye and though it was filled with tears and was very difficult, we made it. His deployment to Afghanistan will be about a year in length. On the blog, I'll post e-mail updates from him as I hear from him to keep everyone up to date on all the information I receive. Thank you for all of the love and support through this process. I am so grateful.

Altho it's a sad looking city, I appreciate being able to get an idea of what it looks like. I would miss the colors we see here at home too! Thanks for posting this.
